Privacy policy

Last updated: June 10, 2026

The short version

We collect your email address when you choose to unlock the free course or join the launch list. That's the only personal information we ask for. It stays on our server, it is never sold or shared, and you can have it deleted by asking.

What we collect, and why

  • Email address — collected when you submit the signup form, used to give you access to the free course and, if you opt in, to send launch and course announcements.
  • Signup context — which page the form was on, the time of consent, and a one-way hash of your IP address (kept for abuse prevention; the hash cannot be reversed into your address).

Email is stored in a database on our own hosting server, outside the web-accessible directory. If we later move the list to an email service provider to deliver lessons by email, this policy will be updated to name that provider.

What stays in your browser

Lesson progress, your reading preferences (theme, font size, read-aloud speed), and your course-unlock status are stored in your browser's localStorage. None of that is transmitted to us. The read-aloud feature uses your device's built-in speech engine — audio never leaves your machine.

Cookies and analytics

We don't set tracking cookies. If we add privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics (page counts, not people), this section will say so explicitly.

Email practices

Every email we send will include a working unsubscribe link. We will not sell, rent, or share your address with anyone.

Deletion and questions

Email brent@leekley.me from the address in question and we'll delete it from the list, usually within a few days.
